Summer Swimming In Prague

Summer is in full action and during the hot days, cities are getting busier and more hectic. Prague is no exception. Whether you are visiting for a few days or for much longer time, little time spend in the water can be really refreshing! Even in case you are short of time and cannot travel outside of town, there are many places easily reachable from the centre, where you can enjoy the summer holiday atmosphere! Bohemia Apartments brings you eight tips, where to go swimming in Prague.

Divoká Šárka

Divoká Šárka 8/2, 164 00Prague 6

Take tram 20 or 26 to „Divoká Šárka“ stop. Then find a red tourist sign next to McDonald and follow the natural water stream. Continue about 15 minutes, and there you are! Šárka is an open air swimming pool that has really retro appearance. Next to swimming, you are free to play table tennis, football and volleyball. For children, there is a small pool, a water slide, swings, trampoline and other facilities that will keep your kids entertained.

Koupaliště Džbán

Nad Lávkou 672/5, 160 00 Prague 6

The best way to get there is to go to Nádraží Veleslavín station (metro A) or to „Nad Džbánem“ tram stop. Then you walk about ten minutes after you find a big blue wall with a tourniquet. Džbán is a pond located very close to Divoká Šárka. Here you can enjoy a long water slide and wakeboarding. The beach is natural and easy to enter. Bars with music serving beer, cocktails and some refreshment will help you to enjoy the day!

Koupaliště Motol

Zahradníčkova, 150 00 Prague 5

How to get there? Koupaliště Motol is not far from previous two tips. You will find it hidden between „Vozovna Motol“ tram stop and „Motol“ metro station (Metro A).  This is a natural swimming place, where the water naturally flows though the pond. The area is very natural and protected from the noise from outside. They have facilities for children, and for adult swimmers there is a nudist beach available. 

Biotop Radotín

K Lázním 9, 153 00 Prague 5

Take the bus from Smíchovské nádraží (Metro B) to „Nádraží Radotín“. (You can as well take a train integrated into Prague Public Transport. Radotín is a small quarter quite far from Prague city centre, but traveling there is quite fast thanks to the buses and trains available. Biotop is a unique project where the water is cleaned naturally without chemicals. You will find a playground for kids and bars here. This part of the city is very calm, perfect for relaxing near Berounka river with a natural beach. If you are a sporty person, you might enjoy the bicycle path here!


Otevřená 1072/4,Prague 6

Petynka is a swimming place with all facilities, in the beautiful area near Prague Castle. To get there, take a tram to „Malovanka“ or „Sibeliova“ stop. 

Hostivařská Přehrada

K Jezeru 1, 100 00, Prague 10

Hostivařská přehrada is a very large dam with a beach. Take metro C to Háje station and then continue about two kilometres by walk. The entrance fee is divided into different times of the day, and the fee after 6pm is very low. For those who like it, a nudist beach is available here. 


Podolská 74, 147 50, Prague 4

How to get there? Take tram to „Kublov“ or „Dvorce“, which is about twenty minutes from Wenceslas Square. This is a good option when you are short of time and cannot travel to further parts of Prague. Podolí swimming pool is a classical swimming place with a gym and steam rooms. It is in operation through the whole year, the inside area is accessible in winter, too. Outside, there is a large swimming pool and long water slide. You can also relax in the whirlpool and enjoy the nice view on surrounding natural environment.

Stay Cool by Vltava (Moldau) River !

Žluté lázně

Podolské nábř. 1184/3, 140 00 Prague 4

Žluté lázně is an area attached to Vltava river, very close to Podolí swimming pool. The complex consists of bars, restaurants and a beach. For your entertainment, there are beach-volleyball courts, pétanque playgrounds, paddleboats, paddleboards, longboards or wakeboard. To get there, take a tram to “Dvorce”.
