Second part of “The One And Only” series is dedicated to our beloved Smetanovo nábřeží. It is a beautiful part of Old Town bursting with magical cafés, restaurants, views etc. To be honest it’s quite hard to choose where to go. But as usual we are here to help you decide! Your perfect wander through Old Town begins in 3, 2, 1…
09:00
If it´s Saturday, we strongly recommend to take a walk to Náplavka (Vltava embankment) and enjoy your perfect morning on local farmers markets. Just buy fresh pastries, delicious coffee, flowers and sit down to have your peaceful minute (or hour) with view on Prague Castle. When it comes to coffee, our faves are always guys from Brew Bar who will make you filtered coffee of your dreams. Food? Famous “Maruščina Topinka” – bread baked on a stove and covered in homemade pesto (spinach, rucola, bear garlic etc.)
If it´s any other day of a week, try SmetanaQ. It is a beautiful café very close to our apartments which serves avocado breads, eggs and all the goodness. But count on the fact the waiters are not always on point. Sometimes they are pretty moody and not the quickest.
11:00
Walk time! Cross the Legion Bridge, a historical bridge over Vltava, towards Kampa. We recommend to take a quick break in the middle and sit down on Střelecký Island – a really nice small island on Vltava river. At the end of this bridge turn right and walk through Kampa. Lots of greenery, great views, Museum. Then follow Charles Bridge – before lunch time there could be less crowds than later in the day. But who knows? Charles Bridge is pretty busy any time of a day.
13:30
Need some fuel? No wonder, it’s been a hard morning’s walk. Reward yourself with Czech feast in a very popular and unbelievably inexpensive Havelská koruna situated ten minutes away from Charles Bridge. You can have traditional Czech sauces – like “svíčková” or “koprovka”, meat treats like “řízek” (schnitzel) or a sweet dish, f.e. dumplings with plums or apricots.
15:30
And now craving some food for your brain and Instagram feed? Visit Dancing House, an architectural must-see when you come to Prague. Dancing House is considered an unmistakable and magnificent structure. It has a gallery and restaurant inside. Gallery offers pretty epic programme with a focus on presentation of pieces from current young authors and well-known artists from Czech Republic and abroad. It is opened daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
20:00
Club Karlovy Lázně was established in 1999 and it has hardly any competition when it comes to Prague´s clubbing. 5 floors of fun, music and dance are available daily from 21:00 to 05:00. Mainstream, Dance music, Oldies, Hip Hop, Chill Out,… Say it, Karlovy Lázně plays it.
If you are not a club lover and you prefer coctails, Hemingway bar or Atmosphere Pub are right places for you. The best thing (when not taking delicious drinks as an option) about them is they are just under our luxury apartments.
So there you have it – a complete programme for a day full of fun around Smetanovo nábřeží. Are you planning to follow our steps? Let us know on Instagram by tagging us in your pictures with #bohemiaapartments.
