Advent has started and Christmas has already arrived to Prague. Everything smells, looks and feels so special, cozy and Christmassy. You can´t miss it. But if you want to get to the best experience, mulled wine and atmosphere, read on. We have some Christmas knowledge we would like to share with you >>>
Christmas markets
Prague is filled with Christmas markets, you can hardly miss them. Those ones on Wenceslas Square or Staroměstské Square are nice but very crowdy and pretty often considered to be a “working place” of many pickpockets. We know it´s convenient to have markets very close to your apartment but still we can´t recommend enough to leave city centre and go to Náměstí Míru. Cute booths with mulled wine, salty almonds, Trdelníky, Christmas decorations and famous Christmas sweets from Czech bloggers.
Shopping
There is nothing wrong with getting your presents in shopping centres but what about making a bit more effort and finding them elsewhere this year? Try to find local and small-businesses and producers and support them in Prague. Here we would like to give a shout-out to our older article about souvenirs in Prague. Spoiler alert: Cute stationery, personalized perfumes, cool books and prints, organic and handmade cosmetics to be find there <3
Christmas movies and music
Home Alone, Love Actually and Grinch are forever in your heart but there is still a place for some new Christmassy movie? Feeling nostalgic and want to listen to some carols? Christmas movies are screened at many big as well as small cinemas. This year prepare yourself on animated Grinch (just for kids?Nah! We love it and you will too) and new Home Alone. Christmas concerts are taking place on most of Christmas markets in the evening. And if you want to listen carols and do some good at the same time, buy tickets to concert Zkoleduj se in cinema BIO OKO – all the proceeds go to three charities chosen by kids from Primary Schools in Prague.
