Where can you get more Christmassy feeling than on a Christmas market? We bring you a list of the best Christmas markets in Prague you can visit. We still have some beautiful apartments in Prague available for December and Christmas time so do not hesitate and come here to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere!
1) Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí)
This is the biggest Christmas market you will find in Prague and even though it can get a little bit crowded and the stalls are usually overpriced, it is worth visiting. You might as well just wander around to soak up the festive atmosphere and admire the Christmas lights, the big Christmas tree and lit up Pařížská street (Paris street) leading to the Old Town Square. However, if you feel like treating yourself or your loved ones, you will see plenty of Christmas presents, decorations, porcelaine and of course some nice food and drinks such as mulled wine and traditional Czech Christmas sweets. You might come across Czech carol-singing performances and your children can enjoy a large Bethlemen scene, an animal stable and handicraft workshops.
2) Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí)
The second most popular square in Prague has got its Christmas market as well. Even though the area is much smaller, it has got its advantages. Firstly, the Christmas tree is always nice and shiny there. But most importantly, it offers a stage where you can watch performances by school choirs singing Czech carols dressed up in traditional Czech costumes, international guests and other performances. The overall Christmassy atmosphere of Wenceslas square is very pleasant and you are most likely to visit this popular shopping area anyway, so you might as well stop by for a mulled wine.
3) Prague Castle
This year will see the first opening of Christmas markets on Prague Castle. It will surely bring beautiful festive atmosphere. You will find them at St. Jiří’s square and near the Riding Hall.
4) Náměstí Míru (Peace Square)
This Christmas market is located on Náměstí Míru in the district of Vinohrady in Prague 2 (metro line A or tram 4, 10, 16, 22 to Náměstí Míru). This market is visited mostly by the locals so it is surely worth a visit. Vinohrady is a trendy district you should visit anyway as it is full of nice and interesting cafés, bistros and restraurants.
