Friday the 28th March saw the launch of an exhibition of world-famous film director Tim Burton. There is surely no need for Bohemia Apartments to introduce him in a lot of details. You’re bound to remember his most famous films: Big Fish, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or Edward Scissorhands and so many others.
The exhibition draws from from private materials of the singular director and encompasses the artist’s output from his early childhood to present days. In total you will see about 500 drawings, paintings, photographs, sketchbooks, animated works and sculptural installations. It looks like there will be something for everyone, right? The exhibition aims to present not only the real world, but primarily Burton’s rich imagination, dreamlike vision and design, and never-ending fantasies. It’s definitely something to look forward to.
You’re in for a long saunter through the picturesque House at the Stone Table in the centre of Prague. The exhibition takes place directly in the City Gallery of Prague and is divided into 10 thematic units, each of which is dominated by a different area of Burton’s work. If you’re not fans of his animated works then never mind, you’re bound to admire his drawings or Polaroid photos. Or maybe you’ll be taken in by his sculptures? You know it! However, this is definitely an event worth visiting.
The Prague City Gallery is, of course, very close to our apartments. If you’d like to go to the exhibition, our Charles Bridge apartments or our apartments in Vodičkova Street are the closest to it.
The exhibition was happening between 28th March – 3rd August 2014.
